Ghost in the Shell - Kuze 01

Kuze was one of the first things Rupert asked us to look at at Weta. I worked on the character for a good 9 months in pre-production, with lots of changes and redesigns as Michael Pitt came on board and we got closer to the shoot. Turns out he was redesigned again in editing - regardless, he was fun to work on!

This was my first pass on Kuze, it was the lead for quite a while and most of the work I did on the character played off this design.

This one was playing with the idea that Kuze's epidermal layer of synthetic skin has lost its bond with the body and peels away to reveal the translucent gel-like casing of his musculoskeletal system.
